Try not to hate Johnathon Schaech too much. Yes, he’s got that classic leading man look— tall, dark and handsome. Yes, he was married to actress Christina Applegate and appeared onscreen opposite a bevy of beauties including Heather Locklear, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron and Jennifer Love Hewitt. But beneath those brooding good looks is a genuinely nice guy who has had his fair share of failed expectations and twists and turns in a Hollywood career that’s anything but ordinary.
Schaech (whose last name rhymes with “deck”) was born to humble beginnings in Edgewood, Maryland, to Joseph and Joanne Schaech. An Economics major at the University of Maryland, Schaech dropped out of college in 1989 at 19, just three semesters shy of graduation, to pursue his Hollywood dream...
