Maila Nurmi who portrayed her own character of VAMPIRA, passed  away on Jan 10th 2008 at her home in Hollywood California. She was 86 years old. Earth years that is.

She is best known for her role in Ed Wood's Plan 9 From Outer Space.   She also used her own created character in  her own series on TV from 1954 to 1955.

She also in 2005 served as the Grand Marshall of the Worlds Longest Hearse Procession at the Petersen Autonotive Museum in LA.  She set the record with 76 Hearses!!

She personally knew and hung out with Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Orson Welles and Forrest J Ackerman to name a few.

RIP Vampra, you will be missed.  Elvira owes her everything!
