Down and give me 20...autographs that is! Lou Gossett Jr. played the tough drill sgt, with a heart of gold. But, he was a no-show.
So, as most autograph collectors have done, I like to put pieces together from things. My favorite Laker players autographs, in a huge collage with photos. My favorite films, on a movie poster. I recently wrote about that in the magazine (which I'm sure you've all read, right??) It was about trying to get the In Laws autographs, with mixed results.
Well, another one I've been working on, has been An Officer and a Gentleman. One of my favorite movies. Not the most romantic movie, the way it's been labeled (I mean, think about it. The premise is women trying to trap guys into marrying them, to have these pilots take them to a better life then in this little Pudget Sound town).
I've had a few of the stars of the film sign my soundtrack album, although, I kind of dropped the ball when I met Joe Cocker, and I forgot to bring it (he sang the theme song from that movie Love Lift Us Up Where We Belong....played by wedding DJs everywhere!!!) Well, I went to a party last night that Lou Gossett Jr. was going to be at. I brought it with me, happy to have the guy that won the Support Actor Oscar for this role, to sign my album.
There were a number of football players there, but I had my sights set on Lou. Well, it wasn't "Louuuuuuuu" I was yelling, but "boo," when I found out he called and said he wouldn't be attending, because he was sick.
I heard a few people speculate as to whether that was true or not.
Since it was a party for organ donation, and apparently he's had some experience in that department, I was just hoping nothing happened with his new parts!
I can get his autograph another time.
