I interviewed Will and Jada years ago here in my hometown of Baltimore where Jada is from !

Ok, to follow up on the last blog follow up,,,Ha Ha.

I met Will Smith and Jada  Pinkett a year or so before they got married here at Martins West event lounge in Baltimore when Independence Day had been released starring Will.

They both got out of the Limo and ONLY Jada was supposed to be in town for a Mother's Day event here. But, with my videocamera in hand, I captured Jada and surprise,,,,WIll stepping out of the limo to go to a private room for Media only. I had my own cable access TV show going then called Cosmic Visions, so I had a press pass.

When we all finished up with a group Q&A session, all the Media left the room, and I made it a point to be last. I closed the door in front of me and said "Ooops, I guess they all left me here, so Will, may I do a brief one on one interview with you"?

Will said to me " Yeah, nice move there guy, ok, you have 5 minutes"! Jada also sat in while I asked Will questions about Independence Day and more. He was so forward, funny and kind to me, as was Jada learning that I also grew up in Northwest Baltimore as she did. Her whole family was in that room as well.

Will signed quite a few items for me as I was the only one besides Jada and her family in that room!! He was such a great guy to do that for me, and Jada autographed a couple items I brought as well! I thanked them, grabbed my video camera, and my signed booty, and left! True Story.

I also own a copy of the 1964 version reprint of Matheson's I am Legend. Below is a pic of my VHS tape of Independance day signed by Will, and the copy of I Am legend in my collection. So, yes, Will is a real stand up guy, and he and Jada were just great!!

That's an awesome story. I love the fact that Will can appreciate your move. He seems like someone that would've pulled things like that back in the day.
