Trying to sell a Barry Bonds autographed baseball.
A funny little blurb that I can relate to recently appeared in the San Diego Union-Tribune. The story was about a guy who took a Barry Bonds autographed baseball to memorabilia shows, trying to sell it for $150. He's been doing it for two years and still hadn't sold it. Now that Bonds has been indicted, it'll be an even tougher sell. He said, "I'm probably overstocked with one baseball."

A similar thing happened with Pete Rose. Although, his prices went down because his betting on baseball made him ineligible to become a "Hall of Famer", which decreases the value (and him continuing to do autograph signings each weekend, and flood the market, doesn't help).

With Bonds, most assume he'll make the Hall at some point, and his record will stand. Even if that's with an asterisk. Because baseball didn't have the type of tests for the drugs he was taking at the time he was breaking those records, and his head grew 25 hat sizes larger. To further complicate the issue, a lot of people just don't like the guy. He was never very nice with the fans, or the press.

I remember buying an autographed rookie card of his for $100, right after he broke the home run record (and the year of 9/11). Looking back, it's probably the worst $100 I've ever spent.
