The David Copperfield case, and if it'll change his good signing habits.
Well, I talked about the fires and other tragedies recently. Sometimes, an event in someones personal life can change their signing habits.
David Copperfield has always been a good signer. In fact, when the people he was with got robbed last year, he said "I thought they were people coming up to ask for an autograph." Which, makes you wonder, if celebrities always assume that, since they are asked to sign so frequently.
Well, FBI agents searched a Las Vegas warehouse and theater where he performs, regarding a woman that said he "forced himself" on her.
The media was reporting the $2 million he had stashed there, as if that is relevant to anything. It's different when OJ Simpson was fleeing in the white Bronco, with money, and disguises, and weapons. Who knows why Copperfield had that money.
And, is it even fair to him, when this is all just an allegation at this point? We don't get to know her name. Yet, we hear his name. And if he's cleared, there will be some folks that don't hear that. They'll just remember him as "that magician that raped some girl."
And, of course, the media is now digging into stories on how he's picked up women in the past.
If he isn't the best autograph signer in the near future, I'll totally understand.
Of course, Russell Crowe went the opposite way when he got bad press. He finally became a good signer.
