In the morning, I heard a San Diego radio station (101.5 FM, KGB), talking to a caller that had won a contest a week earlier. It was for tickets to a Styx concert. They also some how won a guitar autographed by the band (which now only consists of a few original members...one being the very talented guitarist Tommy Shaw, who wasn't even an original member). It was also a guitar they used on stage that day. The guy was thrilled and thanking them for the prize. It was an interesting call, because usually when people win a contest, you don't hear about them talking later to the DJs about how much fun they had. Or how much they appreciated the autographed prize.
Then another San Diego won a trip to New Orleans in a Super Bowl promotion. They ended up taking third place in a national competition to be the first to lick off the stuffing of an Orea cookie and drink a glass of milk. The first place winner did it in 27 seconds. Now that's a fast tongue (I had a better joke, but my editors prohibited it).
The third place contestant, also named Josh (Pederson), took his girlfriend as his teammate. They did receive an Oreo cookie medallion, but that's not as cool as the $10,000 first place prize money. They did get to meet the contest promoters, who were quarterback brothers Eli Manning (The Super Bowl winner), and Peyton Manning...who not only does commercials for Oreo's, but about 20 other products. I'm sure they scored a few autographs, too.
