A rare Shakespeare book recovered.
A stolen volume of William Shakespeare's collected plays, which was published in 1623 and was worth around $2.5 million, was recovered. This from the fine folks at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, where a mysterious man brought the book weeks ago.
The book was published seven years after the bard's death, and was known as "Shakespeare's First Folio", a collection of plays. It was stolen from Durham University in 1998.
The weird part of this story is about the guy that showed up with the bok. He had no appointment, and arrivated at the library on Capitol Hill, claiming to represent a family in Cuba, and wanting experts to tel him if it was a geniuine and important volume by Shakespeare.
A librarian examined the book, asked if they could hold on to it for further study. For some strange reason, he agreed to this. That led to the FBI being notified, which led to police in Durham (northeast England), questioning a 51-year-old man in connection with the case, after an international search for suspects.
