Do you need an excuse to go into a Victoria's Secret? Well, if you're a fan of the Spice Girls, now ya have one.
Well, a great place to score an autographed CD or book, is when the artists release something new, and do a book or CD signing. In L.A. they happen all the time. Same with NY. Everywhere else, it's hit and miss. Especially with the bigger stars.
Alan Alda hit the big cities (only signing the book, no MASH or movie memorabilia). A lot of the indie bands, or newer groups with only a few CDs under their belt, like to hit the music stores. And they're almost always great about signing other things. I laughed when Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers was signing album after album, and I was the first person to buy his new CD, which is what he was there to promote!! (I was disappointed with it, too). The woman at Border's was also confused when he said, "Do you want me to personalize it or not?" I explained to her why it is, some people don't like personalization.
Well, the Spice Girls have gotten back together. And, they've sold out some venues in less than an hour. And, they join Sir Paul McCartney in releasing their CD in an unusual location (his are in Starbucks).
Their greatest hits CD, being released on Nov 13, will be available at Victoria's Secret stores, and on that company's Web site.
It has 13 hits (which is odd, since I only remember about 4). Those include "Spice up Your Life," and "Wannabe". There are also two new songs: "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)" and "Voodoo".
If you can't bring yourself into going into a store that sells lingerie, their label Capital says in mid January, it will be available nationwide.
If you want to catch them in tour, and tickets haven't sold out, it starts December 2nd in Vancouver.
