Will Loni Anderson's latest marriage last?

I remember as a kid, waiting outside the San Diego Clippers locker room, to get the players to sign autographs. I would see some interesting things.

One time, a gorgeous woman was telling Reggie Theus of the Bulls, how great he was and how his performance that night was amazing. He sarcastically said, "I only scored 13 points." She said, "Uh, well, uh...still. Watching you play..."

I wondered about how women can be fans, or groupies, and if that ever turned into marriage.

I thought about that again over the weekend, when I heard about Loni Anderson's marriage.

When I read her autobiography (which, yes, she signed for me at a booksigning), I remember reading how she went from a relationship with a WKRP in Cincinnati co-star, to one with the very popular Burt Reynolds. For an actress that was just becoming popular, to date a man that even her mom was attracted to years earlier, must have been a thrill. But it was problematic from the start.

I didn't know the name of Loni's 4th husband, Bob Flick. Even after I heard he was a founding member of the 60s folk group The Brothers Four.

I did hear that she first met him at a movie premiere in Minneapolis a few yars after his group hit the charts with "Greenfields" in 1960. A local newspaper sent her to pose with the band, calling her a "lucky young fan." That image was also used in the couple's wedding poster at the Bel Air ceremony.

Anderson's son with Burt Reynold's, Quinton, was there. As were Anderson's granddaughters, who wore the same diamond hearts she wore in her 1983 movie "Stroker Ace," which starred Burt.

I'm guessing some people wouldn't have been cool with that.
