Deep into the earth, and out into space....

I hate the Yankees. I've always wanted to start a story saying that. Back when I was a sportscaster for a morning show, I couldn't say things like that. They wanted me to be unbiased. Then, we got a different program director, who wanted me to say things like that. Yet, I never did mention the Yanks. It just never came up.

I don't like them buying their team. I don't like George Steinbrenner.

But, that's not what this blog is about. A few interesting stories happened I thought I would pass along.

A construction worker tried to curse the team, by planting a Boston Red Sox jersey in their new stadium. The problem was...he told people about it.

The shirt was located, behind what is going to be a restaurant. Construction workers got to work, and pulled the ripped jersey of David Ortiz out of the ground.

I'm not sure why if a Sox fan wanted to curse the team, he didn't just put in a New York Knicks jersey. That's the worst team on the planet.

It took the construction team five hours to retrieve it, since it was under two feet of concrete. I can't believe they found that thing, and they still can't find Jimmy Hoffa!

Ortiz, surprisingly, seems to be the one jinxed in all this. He has started the season off very slow.

Now, onto space....the final frontier (I've never wanted to start anything off with those words; I hate Star Trek)

NASA astronaut Garrett Reisman got to throw out the first pitch for the International Space Station, before a Yankees home game against the Red Sox.

Reisman, a New Jersey native and lifelong Yanks fan, docked at the space station in mid-March carrying dirt from the Yankee Stadium pitcher's mound, a Yankees banner, and a hat autographed by owner George Steinbrenner.

No word from alien life, on if this jinxed any of their sports teams.
