O.J., Kennedy, and Hockey Hall of Fame Stuff

With the Winter Olympics over, I heard this story that I thought memorablia collectors would love.

The stick and gloves used by Sidney Croby, who scored the winning goal in Canada’s gold medal win over the U.S., are M.I.A.

It’s partly the fault of Crosby. He threw them into the air after the overtime goal.

Now, the Hockey Hall of Fame requested them, along with the stick, for their collection. As of now, they’re settling for some equipment from a fw other members of Team Canada.

I’m wondering if this stuff ever pops up on eBay, will the owner be able to prove its authenticity. I know the basketball Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points with, was taken by a member of the crowd, and a few different people had claimed to own it.

In a slightly bloodier event than hockey, some crime investigators got together in Las Vegas for a convention. Along with the rope used in the murder of Sharon Tate, they also had the suit Robert Kennedy wore when murdered by Sirhan Sirhan. I heard an AM talk show say the Kennedy family wasn’t happy about this. And I’m guessing the Tate and Polanski families aren’t happy about the rope, either.

The public can’t view the items used in Los Angeles’ most famous crimes, and I’m not sure why anyone needed to view them.

And, along those same lines, there was talk the Smithsonian would get the suit O.J. Simpson wore in his murder trial (his gloves were already taken…in the convention mentioned previously).

A California judge approved the donation of what was a 13-year-court battle over the carefully tailored suit, white shirt, and yellow-and-tan tie, which had been held by a sports agent.

Fred Goldman was claiming the suit should go to him (since money Simpson owes him from the civil case sure isn’t). O.J. claimed the suit was stolen from him (talk about the pot calling the kettle black).

That suit, along with other memorabilia that Simpson thought belonged to him, is what got him involved in the Las Vegas hotel room trying to retrieve it (with a gun and some thugs).

All this in Vegas. Why couldn’t they have one museum to show all this garbage?

Thankfully, the Smithsonian announced that they weren’t interested in the artifact.

I’m rooting for the Goldman family getting it. They can have fun torching it. Or, they can sell it in an auction. Let them collect some money and tick of O.J. all at once.
